Develop Python code to interface FPGA hardware with microwave and optical systems for a quantum teaching proof-of-concept project.
The position
We are seeking a capable and motivated Python programmer to work as part of our Proof of Concept (POC) team developing a commercialised quantum teaching system. Using Python to realise the goals of the team to interface FPGA hardware with microwave and optical systems, you will produce the code required to implement this platform.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python programming, especially in relation to hardware integration. Experience developing front-end GUIs and library/API development and maintenance will also be viewed favourably.
Responsibilities
- Support researchers in the development and writing of code relevant to the completion of the POC project.
- Maintain and manage code produced as part of the POC project.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to implement and advance the POC project.

Qualifications
Required
- Experience writing Python code.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Ability to adapt to local culture and rapidly changing work environment.
Preferred
- Experience integrating software and hardware.
- Experience with GUI design and production.

Employment Term
Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 1 year. Contract initially with 6-month probationary period (inclusive). This contract may be renewed by taking into consideration the performance, conduct, and behavior of the Employee and OIST’s financial and other circumstances.
Working Hours
9:00-17:30 (Discretionary)
Holidays: Saturday, Sunday, National holidays, and Year-end and New Year holidays (Dec. 29 – Jan. 3)
Leave: Annual Paid Leave, Summer Leave, Sick Leave, and Special Leave
Overtime work hours: Discretionary Working Hours System: In the discretionary labor system for specialized work, the employee shall be deemed to have worked 7 hours 30 minutes per day.
