Post-doctoral Researcher - Sensory and Behavioural Neuroscience Unit
Conducts research on neural circuits underlying flexible, task-dependent behavior using electrophysiology, optogenetics, and quantitative behavioral paradigms.
The position
Post-doctoral positions are available in the Sensory and Behavioural Neuroscience Unit (https://www.oist.jp/research/research-units/sbn) at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST), in Okinawa, Japan.
Our lab investigates how neural circuits generate flexible, task-dependent behaviour, with a particular focus on olfactory processing during learning and decision-making. We combine large-scale electrophysiology (Neuropixels), intracellular recordings, optogenetics, and quantitative behavioural paradigms to link neural population dynamics to behaviour.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead projects aimed at uncovering the circuit and dynamic physiological mechanisms underlying task-dependent sensory representations. Approaches may include high-density electrophysiology, patch-clamp recordings, and circuit perturbations in behaving animals, with flexibility to develop independent directions aligned with the lab's goals.

Employment Term
Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 2 years, which may be renewed subject to the performance, conduct, and behavior of the Employee and OIST's financial and other circumstances.
