Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate activities at a designated pool, serving as lead lifeguard and performing lifeguard duties.
- Inspect and set up facilities for scheduled activities (e.g., open swim, water aerobics, scuba classes, pool parties, lap swim), ensuring the facility opens on time with adequate staffing.
- Oversee pool operations during scheduled shifts, ensuring staff complies with current policies, procedures, and written instructions.
- Continuously observe the swimming area to ensure the safety of patrons, maintaining order and enforcing established rules of safety and behavior.
- Take immediate and appropriate action to rescue swimmers in trouble, administer first aid, call for medical assistance, and complete required reports in the event of injury, accident, near drowning, or drowning.
- Clean and maintain swimming facilities (pool, bathhouses, dressing rooms, and showers), ensuring they are sanitary and meet established inspection standards.
- Ensure hourly chemical checks are conducted and documented, and inspect facilities, reporting problems to the supervisor.
- Manage admissions, check-in patrons, issue color-coded bracelets, accept payments, and complete cash accountability and other reports.
- Monitor work schedules, report problems to the supervisor, and distribute/balance workload according to planned activities.
- Provide on-the-job training to new employees and monitor the proper rotation of lifeguards for stands or breaks.
- Resolve routine complaints with minimal impact to the activity, referring complex situations to the supervisor.
- May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Position is a position of trust and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifying Experience:
- Applicant must have prior experience as a lifeguard and knowledge of pool safety and pool maintenance requirements.
- Must have prior training or experience which demonstrates leadership abilities.
- Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs unassisted and participate in reoccurring physical fitness training.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
Preference/Eligibility Notes:
- Open to current 18 FSS employees.
- Eligibility is determined based on preference(s) and/or priority consideration eligibilities (e.g., Business Based Action, Military Spouse Preference, Veteran Spouse/Widow/Parent of Veteran, Transition Hiring Preference).
- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work.
